How I Think

i remember the commercial real clear

this is your brain
this is your brain on drugs
any questions

it was short and to the point
an egg
a frying pan
a sizzle

it kept me clean
to a point

i think in pictures
and words
and colors
i think logically
and in the abstract

numbers move in my head
like clouds cross the sky
or like mosquitos hunting for your arm
after it rains

i think in hues of pain
and in hues of joy
i think like a man, a boy,
and even get in touch with my feelings from time to time

i think to learn
to grow
to teach
to believe
to dream
